she likes the nightlife
Been a rather busy week, as far as “nightlife” is concerned. Haven’t been taking photos, just been hanging out.
Tuesday, went to New Bev and finally met Allison and Chad Michael Ward (pleasure meeting you guys, btw ;p). Saw the last remnants of Penetentiary II, which led way to Petey Wheatstraw.
Best quote of the night definitely was when someone asked Jamaa Fanaka what the basis of all his “bizarre” plots are, and he answered (paraphrased, obviously):
“It’s like when your reality gets introduced to non-reality. Like a perfectly straight heterosexual male goes into the penetentiary, and the next thing you know, he’s pounding doo-doo!”
Great night, great movies. Would love to get a copy of Wheatstraw now, along with Disco Godfather. Might possibly even make Grindhouse nights there a new regular thing too — great atmosphere.
Wednesday, headed to Hell, which is a monthly goth/industrial art/performance/club event out here in Hollywood. Had an okay time there. Bumped into Luanie, whom I’m in the talks of doing more shoots with soon, and also hung out (very briefly) with Alli and Chad again.
Seemlessly okay night, but turned rather boring (same old scene)… until I left the club and got my tits groped by some pervert asshole walking by me. Bizarre, but okay, guess my tits deserved that?? Really bizarre.
Thursday (last night), FINALLY got to see and hang out with Pixie (nsfw) for the first time since meeting in Berlin. We went to catch Health at the Echo. Caught the last half of their opening band, Captain Ahab, who COMPLETELY rocked the house. Totally worth catching live — it’s a must.
Around the time Health got on (who were also equally awesome), Eon McKai decided to finally grace us with his presence, but not before Colin decided to venture out looking for a burrito (long story for a different time). All in all a great night, which ended with tacos and a trip to Little Joy.
Now tonight, Friday, heading to Eon’s party for “On My Dirty Knees” (nsfw), which is also slumped in with Miss Kitty’s 7-year anniversary party. Completely missed Koga’s photo opening… and Icy Lytes, but really didn’t want to clutter so much tonight with no rest.
Tomorrow, Saturday, is Anavan and an Icy Lytes DJ set at Pinche Way (Mountain Bar, Chinatown). Hopefully, with that night marking the last day of February, I’ll finally figure out which 50 shots I’ll be submitting towards my own art show thingy. Deadline IS tomorrow after all…
And… that does it for this week’s sort of recap.
